Sharing His Story

Acts 16:29-34

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31

—

The Philippian jailer voiced the cry of all who are lost: “What must I do to be saved?”

What must I do to find peace with my Maker? What must I do to find meaning and purpose in my life? What must I do to live wisely and well? Spiritual seekers frame the question in many different ways, but the answer is always the same, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will find what you’re searching for.”

As Christians, we bear witness to the resurrection and reign of Jesus Christ. The story we share is an old one, yet ever new. God promises that if we present this simple message, he will use it to change lives.

Although the salvation story is timeless, the way we present it must be custom-fitted for each setting. When someone you have been praying for suddenly turns to you and says, “So what is this thing you call Christianity?” or “How do I become a Christian?” what are you going to say?

When the question comes, we need to be able to tell the story effectively. Many tools are available to assist you in explaining the Christian faith. Just a few are the ABCs of Salvation, the Roman Road, the Four Spiritual Laws, the Bridge illustration, and so on. Make sure you’re prepared by familiarizing yourself with at least a few of the many basic ways to present God’s story.

Father, the message of your salvation is not difficult to understand. Help us to tell it effectively to point others to the only One who can truly satisfy us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
