Time

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything …
Ecclesiastes 3:1

—

“How time flies!” we often say. Time seems to trickle through our fingers so quickly! Yet in the book of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher tells us, “There is a time for everything.” We are given time from God to attend to the things in life that truly matter.

So how does God want people to use time? There are great answers to that question on the pages of Scripture! We’ll explore them this month as we think about time. Please join me in a time of reflection, renewal, rededication, and rejoicing.

But what does God want me to do today, May 1, 2010? In some countries May 1—May Day—is a day of great celebration. Or maybe for you May 1 is just like any other day. Either way, how should we use our time today?

God’s ultimate answer is found in 2 Corinthians 6:2: “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” The nature of this present moment is that it is filled with the possibility of experiencing the redeeming grace of God. If you are a Christian, thank God for your salvation. If you are not (yet) a believer in Christ, God is calling you into a saving relationship with him through faith in Jesus.

This is the day of salvation, the day of God’s favor! Now is the time to be saved. Believe in God for all you’re worth.

Dear God, today is the day of salvation for each of us. Some of us believe you, and some of us don’t. Help us to use this month of May to believe in you. Amen.
